A Star Is Born

“The world isn’t perfect. But it’s there for us, doing the best it can… that’s what makes it so damn beautiful.”

Kagari started life at a very young age on the Azim Steppe, unsure as to what happened to her parents and being taken in by the Dalamiq tribe. It stood out that a lone miqo’te child grew up with a tribe of xalea, however as a child she thought very little of it. Kagari’s guardian through her childhood Checheyigen Dalamiq would teach Kagari the many skills expected of her role within the tribe. She would spend many days going out with the others early in the morning to gather fabrics and foods from the bountiful lands of the Steppe. Making many friends, Kagari found herself struggling to accept her life as it was in the Steppe. It upset her greatly that she was a lone miqo’te, not just in her tribe, but in the entire Steppe. In a rash decision she chose to leave her tribe in the middle of the night and escape on a fishing boat heading to Kugane.

A Star Shining So Bright

“To know sorrow is not terrifying. What is terrifying is to know you can’t go back to happiness you could have.”

Upon arriving in Kugane in her teens, but to her kind a fresh adult, she would be greeted by the Sekiseigumi guards. Admiring their stoicism, the honor behind their robes, and the katanas they wielded in peace she would dream for several nights in the streets of Kugane, vivid dreams of becoming a samurai herself. She awoke on her third night to share a conversation with violet haired Ishgardian, a conversation that changed Kagari’s path and pushed her to go to the Sekiseigumi Barracks and request to join their ranks. While not of noble birth, she was denied becoming a samurai, however was offered a job cleaning up the barracks, mending their robes, and assisting in any form requested of her.

Where A Star Dies

“Whatever you lose, you’ll find it again. But what you throw away you’ll never get back.”

Kagari would have many sleepless nights as she would find herself practicing after hours with a bokken, trying to replicate the very training that she would observe each day. The day would come where she was discovered, the ruse was up and she believed that she would be ejected from the Sekiseigumi. In very short words, and a toss of a uniform, she was told to attend formal training. Kagari would spend a year learning before ever getting her own steel, in a few more months she had met the satisfactory requirements to become a city guard. She would work many shifts covering the port, ensuring that ijin where to not cause problems. Kagari quickly let her temper control her actions, quick to cut down anyone that caused the slightest problem. She became a fearsome samurai, spending her off hours training before drinking herself to sleep.

A Star Reborn

“Why should I apologize for being a monster? Has anyone ever apologized for turning me into one?”

After a few months into her guard duty she would attend additional training in an attempt to learn how to manipulate her aether, something that she thought would be unattainable as it didn’t come easy to her. She had learned quickly that she only was able to possess a small amount of fire aspected aether, and that it was very volatile. She was advised to control her temper, and that the training was for those with abundant aether. She would return back to guard duty for a few more years until the calamity struck, concerned with how her tribe back in the Azem Steppe were, she would stress and lose sleep being unable to leave to check on their safety. Disaster struck and she lost her temper with a merchant placing their hand on a noble in the market, she let out an outburst of aether, torching the stalls, people, and the noble.

A Supernova Of Emotions

“It was like you brought color to my life. You changed my life, all by yourself.”

Instead of facing the problems she had caused, she sought out hiding. Speaking to known brothel owner and criminal Revi'a Katrha, seeking a way out of Kugane. She was offered a ride out in exchange she had to work as a courtesan in his lounge, she would subject herself over several days to torment to change her appearance, tattooing much of her body and changing her hair color. She would work hard every day the doors would open, serving each customer she could until she made enough funds to escape from Kugane. When the time was just right she would catch a ship landing her up in the Black Shroud where she would now call home.

A White Dwarf Shining Brighter

“Even if I searched the world over, no one could compare to you.”

Their timing came at an incredible time as the day of their departure the sekiseigumi guards had shut the lounge down, striking down Revi’a in the process. Over a few weeks of travel the she had arrived in Gridania, and purchased her home there. Kagari, continuing to make her attempts to lay low resorted back to her fabric work she learned back on the Steppe. Kagari would find work at a up and coming club calling itself Shinkiro. She would work there until its owner retired, leaving Kagari and their spouse Azura the location. The two re-opened the brothel after changes, sporting the new name of Neo Blossom. However quickly they ran into financial problems as there were several loans left over from the previous owner, and all of their money was gone. Quickly Kagari would seek out new employment at their competitor Midnight Echoes.
